Google Maps Timeline is one of the most useful feature which can be achieved by enabling location history on Android. In addition to the monthly summary, Google Maps sends out a “schedule update for 2020” which was clearly affected by the last 12 months, but still provides useful local insights.
COVID-19 changed the world travels in 2020, and the number of places people were able to visit. If you are able to travel this year, you can see some of the places I visited with the help of this automated timeline email.
Before submitting your ‘2020 visits’ summary, Google first acknowledges the current situation. Then there is a map showing where you have traveled with a count of “cities” and “places” indicating the number of new places.

Here are the highlights of “cities visited” and “places visited”, where sites get a cover photo and Google determines if it’s new.
This feed ends with Google Maps indicating the total distance (in miles) you’ve traveled for the year 2020 and “your data at all times”.
While we are already in the new year, Google is waiting a week or two for us to send this email. So far, I have received it on only one account, and it should expire in the coming days.
